Chevron Technical Services Fokker F27 Project Newsletter

Chevron, working together with Fokker and KLM have been acting on plans to position a Fokker 27 as a gate guard at the new Fokker Business Park (on the site of the former Fokker factory at Schiphol-East, Amsterdam).
For Fokker, the F27 was the ideal gate guard as it is Fokker’s most successful aircraft to date, and has become an icon of Fokker’s industry.

In September 2010 three former Farinair F27’s touched down at Cotswold airport for storage, (Home of Chevron Aircraft Maintenance).
In conjunction with the owner, one of these aircraft “HA-FAD” s/n: 10449 was acquired and plans were drawn up to fly this aircraft to Schiphol.

During the summer of 2011 Chevron Aircraft Maintenance staff have been preparing  the aircraft for flight and it is scheduled that on the 24th of November 2011 HA-FAD will arrive at Schiphol after completing its final flight, it is a fitting end that this fabulous workhorse of an aircraft will spend its remaining days on show as a tribute to all those that were ever involved in Fokker and its products.

The preparation and eventual flight of the F27 will be a very special event for Schiphol, and for all those involved. The airport hasn’t received a F27 for more than 15 years, and its arrival is sure to raise a lot of local interest. To mark this this very special occasion, the F27 will be escorted in formation from the Northsea by the Fokker Four aerobatic team.

Follow the progress of HA-FAD on this page we will keep everyone updated via further issues of this newsletter. The estimated arrival time of the F27 at Schiphol Airport will be 14:00hrs local time on the 24th of November 2011, for all you Fokker enthusiasts in the UK the aircraft will be departing Kemble @ approx. 12:00hrs local time.

Keep watching this space for further updates !
